Maintain Your Ceramic Coating

To Keep It Performing Optimally And Long-Lasting

  • Wash your vehicle consistently & properly after a coating

  • Proper Hand Washes Area Ideal

  • Touch-less Automatic Washes are okay if you are desperate and need to get grime off.

  • If you must utilize touch-less, ask the workers to not scrub the front with their dirty brush.

  • Use a microfiber or chamois to dry it down afterward, regardless of which wash method you used.

  • Important: Using an automatic wash with brushes will void its warranty. (Under lights, it's impossible to miss if it's been through an automatic wash.)
  • Don't apply any wax products after a coating. The ceramic and wax do not mix well and will give an appearance of a foggy and unclear finish.

  • You can use a spray ceramic detailer with a microfiber towel to wipe the vehicle down between washes.

  • Bring your vehicle in for its yearly inspection, to ensure the coating is performing.

  • 1X each year, we recommend a coating boost application to keep the coating performing optimally. You can do this at home on your own with our recommended product.

  • If you prefer for us to apply the coating booster at the time of your annual inspection, we can do it for just $99 with an exterior wash.

LET'S BUST SOME MYTHS, SHALL WE?

Common Myths and Misinformation About Ceramic Coating

Which, Just To Be Clear, Means These Below Statements are NOT TRUE, but we hear them often.

And Then We Will Give You The Real Truth Below it. Read On.

"All Ceramic Coatings Are The Same"

The truth is, 'ceramic' is a huge buzz word and manufacturer's of common retail products have begun to capitalize on that. Ceramic coatings are huge in the detailing industry as it's a new technology that CAN be extremely protective, so long as it's a quality coating and skillfully applied. You will find products everywhere with the word "ceramic" on them, but don't be fooled. Many of these products are glorified spray waxes and won't provide protection for any more than a handful of washes, just like any standard wax. Here's a guide: A real ceramic coating that lasts multiple years will not be found on retail store shelves nor will it be packaged in a spray bottle.

"You Never Need To Wash Your Vehicle Again"

It is ceramic, not steel. Dirt and grime will wear down a ceramic coating over time. The purpose of the coating is to add an additional layer over the factory paint and clear coat, to prevent the elements from touching it directly. But if not properly maintained and regularly washed, the coating's integrity will wear down. With a ceramic coating, you never need to WAX again, but washing should still be a regular part of your vehicle maintenance.

"Ceramic coating is an overpriced service and you can just do it at home."

As we mentioned above, not all ceramic coatings are the same. The coatings that we apply here at Unique Auto Detailing cannot be purchased at a retail location, and require a special process to properly apply it, as well as a certification from the manufacturer. Part of the process is the prep work before the coating even is applied. This preparation is equally (if not more important) than the application of the coating itself. For a coating to properly adhere to the surface of your vehicle, the paint needs to be properly washed & decontaminated. Additionally, before applying any type of permanent coating, it's important that swirls and scratches are as effectively as possible removed from the paint. Otherwise, the imperfections will be sealed in the coating and the result will be a less-than-ideal finish. Unless you have proper training to do this entire process at home, we recommend leaving it to a professional.
